Panama-Pacific International Exposition Enlisted Mens Club House. Official Post Card by the Cardinell Vincent Co. Courtesy Ron Plain.

On this day – April 8

On this day in 1915 the Panama-Pacific International Exposition celebrated Amador County Day. The fair also celebrated the dedication of the Enlisted Men’s Clubhouse, which was honored with a military parade from the Scott Street Gate to the clubhouse. In appreciation for the cooperation of the US Military, the PPIE admitted servicemen for free. The clubhouse contained a reading room, lounge, pool room, a small restaurant, washrooms, and a barber.
