On this day – April 12

On this day in 1915 the Utah Building was dedicated at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The pavilion was designed by Cannon and Fetzer of Salt Lake City and contained displays of Utah’s natural history including geology and native plants and indigenous peoples. Elaborate displays of coal and copper mining dominated the wings of the building.
