Ferry building to be relit in honor of the PPIE Centennial
In 1915 the Ferry Building was covered in lights to promote the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. This March, the 240-foot tall tower will be relighted just was in 1915, thanks to Donna Ewald Huggins, Mayor Edwin M. Lee’s official spokesperson for the Centennial, who spoke with San Francisco Chronicle columnist Carl Nolte this weekend. This project received support from philanthropist Tad Taube, who recently pledged support to keep the Bay Lights art installation on the nearby San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge lit for another year.
The relighting will take place on March 3rd with a public dedication. Learn more about the event HERE.
