SWEDISH DOLLS
The Swedish Pavilion at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 contained a set of 16 large dolls displaying various provincial costumes. These dolls were purchased by Phoebe Apperson Hearst, Honorary Chairwoman of the Women’s Committee for PPIE. They are curated at the Hearst Museum on the UC Berkeley campus. They will be featured at the museum’s reopening in February 2016. The Swedish dancers’ costumes represent many of these same Swedish regions.
