San Francisco’s Panama-Pacific Exposition
San Francisco Public Library
Dec 10, 07:00PM – 08:30PM
In its centennial year, Nancy DeStefanis discusses the “last great world’s fair,” the Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915, and displays artifacts from the event. She will also present a slideshow and a film, “The Phantom City,” which features live footage of the Exposition. Constructed on 635 acres of what is now the Marina District, the fair demonstrated that San Francisco had recovered from the devastation of the 1906 earthquake and was a center of new ideas and manufacture.
Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Panama Pacific International Exposition.
