Nutcracker Under the Dome Kick-Off Event

SF Ballet and Westfield San Francisco Centre kick off the holiday season by unveiling the 3-D holiday light spectacular, Nutcracker Under the Dome. Join us for a family festival featuring photo opportunities with SF Ballet Nutcracker characters, an appearance by Santa, crafts and activities, and this season’s first viewing of Nutcracker Under the Dome at 5pm. Children ages 8 and under can enjoy a special movement workshop with SF Ballet School and the first 150 children to arrive will receive commemorative tutus.

Westfield’s iconic Dome will come to life each night with this 3-D light show that will showcase the beloved holiday tradition in an innovative format, promising to capture the imagination of young and old.

City Rising: San Francisco and the 1915 World’s Fair

After the fair closed, this ephemeral “city within a city” was all but erased from the landscape. The only building saved from demolition—and still standing in its original location—was the Palace of Fine Arts. Repaired in the 1930s, reconstructed in the 1960s, and recently restored, this beloved city landmark is one of architect Bernard Maybeck’s San Francisco masterworks.

The Ferry Building Lights Are Going Out!

To commemorate the exact Centennial of the Closing Day of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915, the '1915' lights on San Francisco's Ferry Building are being turned off!

Please join us for a fun ceremonial salute to 'closing day' on the Embarcadero in front of the Ferry Building. There will be wonderful souvenirs to the first 500 attendees, music, a tribute to Lincoln Beachey, CC Moore and Sunny Jim Rolph, and surprises galore! Vintage attire is encouraged!
