Broadside Printing Event

The Book Arts & Special Collections Center and San Francisco History Center present a Panama-Pacific International Exposition Centennial  Broadside Printing Event in the San Francisco History Center. Come experience letterpress printing on the library’s 1909 Albion handpress and take home a unique keepsake broadside.

Our co-sponsors, the American Printing History Association’s NorCal Chapter, will provide printing expertise.

Everyone is welcome; broadsides are limited to the first 100 people.

The show will highlight images from these public and private collections that provide a glimpse into the birth, life, and death of San Francisco’s largest and most extravagant public event.

The Ferry Building Lights Are Going Out!

To commemorate the exact Centennial of the Closing Day of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915, the '1915' lights on San Francisco's Ferry Building are being turned off!

Please join us for a fun ceremonial salute to 'closing day' on the Embarcadero in front of the Ferry Building. There will be wonderful souvenirs to the first 500 attendees, music, a tribute to Lincoln Beachey, CC Moore and Sunny Jim Rolph, and surprises galore! Vintage attire is encouraged!

Program is 4:15 - 5:15 - get there early!
